I this article I  will be highlighting on some political parties and candidates that their motto and symbol contributed to their success in elections.  The Convention People's Party (CPP), under the leadership of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, emerged victorious in the 1951, 1954, and 1956 elections, largely due to the significance of the party's motto and symbol.  The party's emblem, a cock, symbolized the call to awaken from passivity, signifying the need for Gold Coasters to rise up and strive for self-governance.  Meet Abena Busia, the Daughter of Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia, Ghana's prime minister from 1969-1972. Abena Busia is a Ghanaian academic, poet, and cultural critic. She is a professor of English at Rutgers University in the United States and has taught at various institutions worldwide.  Abena Busia has published several collections of poetry, including "Testimonies of Exile" and "The Seasons of Beento Blackbird".  She is also the co-editor of "Theorizing Black Feminisms: The Visionary Pragmatism of Black Women". Busia's work explores themes of identity, culture, and belonging.  In July 2017, President Nana Akuffo-Addo named Abena Busia as Ghana's ambassador to Brazil. She was among 22 other distinguished Ghanaians who were named to head various diplomatic Ghanaian missions in the world.

In the middle of 1978, things were totally out of hands since the the inflation rate that thought will be decrease rather increase to 300 percent which was not good for economic growth in the country. General Fredrick William Kwasi Akuffo took over from General Ignatius Kutu Acheampong who was forced to resign for general improper conduct and mismanagement of the economy. Measures put in place to resolve the Economic hardship by the Supreme Military Council II were devaluation of the Cedi. The SMC II devalued the Cedi by 58 per cent. Formation of NLM

 The National Liberation Movement (NLM) was formed by some Akan traditional leaders and rebels of the Convention People's Party after the 1954 elections. It was launched in Prince of Wales park in Kejetia in the Ashanti region on 19 September 1954. The movement was supported by 50 paramount chiefs in the Ashanti and it environs. Maclean Nana Konadu Asante, a bachelor of education (B. Ed) Science and Mathematics student at Presbyterian College of Education, Akropong. He is popularly known  as Professor Maclean (Prof Maclean for short) on campus and across many places he visits  He was born and raised in Oyoko a suburb of Koforidua in the Eastern Region of Ghana. In 2001, its centennial year, the Nobel Committee decided that the Peace Prize was to be divided between the United Nations (UN) and the world organization's Secretary-General, Kofi Annan. The choice showed the Committee's traditional support for organized cooperation between states. Kofi Annan was born in Ghana in 1938. His father was a chief and governor of the Ashanti province. He attended a Methodist school and a technical college in his home country before continuing his academic studies in Switzerland and the United States.  Today In History  On 3 August 1956, the Gold Coast Assembly adopted Kwame Nkrumah's resolution demanding independence from Britain. The British Government stated it would agree to a firm date for independence if a reasonable majority for such a step were obtained in the Gold Coast Legislative Assembly after a general election. Following the election of the colonial Gold Coast's first legislative assembly to include African leaders on July 17, 1956, a vote for independence from the British Commonwealth was passed at a tally of 72 representatives with 32 abstaining. The opposition did not attend the debate and the measure was passed unanimously by all of the members in attendance. The British authority accepted the vote without contest and independence was set for March 6, 1957

  Former Education Minister and renowned author of ‘The Dilemma of a Ghost’, Ama Ata Aidoo has passed on. According to her family, the poet, playwright and academic born on March 23, 1942, died peacefully at home on Wednesday. In a press statement, the family announced, “with deep sorrow but in the hope of the resurrection, informs the general public that our beloved relative and writer passed away in the early hours of this morning Wednesday, May 31, 2023, after a short illness.” The family head, Kwamena Essandoh Aidoo added, “Funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.” The family requests of the general public privacy in its difficult moments of grief.
