First African UN General Secretary

 Boutrous Boutrous Ghali was sixth and first African to hold an office as the United Nations UN general secretary.

Boutrous Boutrous Ghali was born in Egypt in the year 1922.

He started his basic education in Cairo Egypt and admitted into the University of Cairo, where he studied law and became international law professor.

He practices law for a couple of years before he joins politics fully.

He became the Minister of state for Egypt foreign affairs department with his positive response towards his task,he was able to promote domestic and international peace due to his position.



Boutrous Boutrous was accomplish diplomatic and supporter of international peace and cooperation which helped him to be elected as the Sixth General Secretary of UN.

The Secretariaship organ of the UN administer programs and policies lay down by the Executive Council.

The Secretary General works with members of the security council fostall potential problem areas and help implement the wishes of the security council.

Boutrous Boutrous Ghali served as the UN general secretary from 1991-1996.


During his period as UN general secretary,he showed massive support and response to Rwandan Brutal Genocide and the Congo War.

He also play a significant role by establishing International Criminal Tribunal, which aimed at to prosecute people who committed crimes during the Bosinian War.


He created a peaceful atmosphere in Haiti which he made it by ensuring good democratic governance in the country.

During the Israelite and Palestinian war, he set up Commission to restore peace among the countries.



Trygve Lie (Norwegian) was the first UN general secretary, followed by Dag Hammarskjolk(Sweden),U' Thant (Myanmar), Kurt Waldheim (Australia), Javier Perez de Cuellar(Peru), Kofi Annan (Ghana), Banki Moon (South Korea) the current Antonio Guteres
